US Navy bulletin sent to employees stated that TikTok app, primarily being used to share video , owned by Chinese firm ByteDance, and would be banned from government-issued mobile devices as it posed a “cybersecurity threat.”
All personnel needs to uninstall TikTok from their mobile devices issued by Government else they would be blocked to use Navy Marine Corps Intranet, it added.

Last month, U.S army cadets were instructed not to use TikTok, after Senator Chuck Schumer raised security concerns about the army using TikTok within their recruiting.
A Navy spokesman said Naval and Marine personnel who use government issued smart devices are usually allowed to use popular commercial apps, including common social media marketing apps, but from time to time specific programs that present security threats are banned. He would not give examples of apps which can be allowed or those considered unsafe.
